COVID KIDS - support for kids and young people diagnosed with Covid-19

COVID KIDS - support for kids and young people diagnosed with Covid-19

Beginning 23 November 2021.

The Women’s and Children’s Health Network has introduced COVIDKIDS — a dedicated South Australian service for children and young people diagnosed with COVID-19. COVIDKIDS is by referral only and is not a drop-in clinic.

Most children with COVID-19 will only experience a mild illness or will have no symptoms at all and can safely remain at home without the need for medical support.

For those who need extra care, the COVIDKIDS service will provide expert advice and support from specialist Infectious Diseases team at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital.

This mainly virtual service will allow children and young people to remain in isolation and avoid the stress that can sometimes be associated with coming to hospital.

The COVIDKIDS team will also arrange a face-to-face consultation at a dedicated space at the WCH, which has an entrance separate to the main hospital to reduce the risk of further infections.

For regional and rural children, the COVIDKIDS team will support and coordinate care through the appropriate local health services.
